Spring Yard Cleanup: Making Blackfalds Beautiful!
As the snow melts and spring arrives, it's time to give our yards the care they deserve! A well-maintained yard not only boosts curb appeal, but also contributes good neighbour relations along with a healthy and vibrant community.A spring yard cleanup typically involves:Removing winter debris: This includes raking leaves, branches, and any other accumulated clutter.Mowing the lawn: Get those lawns looking sharp and ready for summer.Cleaning walkways and driveways: Make sure your pathways are clear and safe.Pruning and trimming: Prepare your shrubs and trees for new growth.Cleaning up dog feces:After a long winter, the spring melt brings out the smell and the unsightly remnants of what your dog has left in the yard during the winter months. We encourage you to take pride in your property by cleaning up your yard this spring. A clean yard is a sign of a healthy and vibrant community. You can also take advantage of our Yard Waste Programwhere crews will collect your yard waste weekly on the same day as your designated collection. For additional requirements for spring clean up you can visit the following:Town of Blackfalds Community Standards BylawTown of Blackfalds Traffic Bylaw

Town of Blackfalds Moves Forward with Critical Northwest Stormwater Project
Blackfalds, Alberta (April 15, 2025) –After many years of engineering work, environmental studies, public consultation, regulatory reviews, and appeals, the Town of Blackfalds is proud to move forward with a significant infrastructure project that aligns with our Environmental Management Policy and supports sustainable community growthfor both the Town and Lacombe County. At the Regular Council Meeting on April 8, Council reviewed the project in detail and awarded the construction contract for the Northwest (NW) Stormwater Project to Northside Construction.Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2025, with the majority of work taking place over the summer months. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.The NW Stormwater Project will form the foundation for current and future stormwater pond systems in the Town's northwest area. It is a critical step in enabling responsible development while ensuring the long-term management of both water quality and quantity. The system will help protect natural ecosystems, manage runoff effectively, and return treated water safely to the basin.“This is a major milestone for the Town and an investment in our community’s environmental resilience and infrastructure capacity,” shared Director of Infrastructure and Planning Services Preston Weran. For more information and to view the presentation made to Council, pleaseclick here!
